At the beginning of the experiment, a certain amount of water was applied on the filter paper, and then a quantitative seed was loaded on the filter paper. The pallet is stored on the shelf and is periodically imaged and weighed by the robot arm. The seed is detected by its background color characteristics such as hue and saturation. The shape of the seed is counted. Roots are used as clues to seed germination; only roots around the seed embryo and within a certain radius are considered as clues to germination. Each seed has a detected root segment (within the observation radius) labeled as germination. In order to optimize root detection, some rules are applied, such as proximity principle, region of interest and germination cues. The length of the root is measured according to the inner axis of the root shape detected.
